LABION has filed a new patent for an innovative diagnostic method based on saliva analysis using Raman spectroscopy with metallic nanoparticles. This technology offers a rapid, sensitive, and non-invasive approach for the differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS, overcoming the limitations of current diagnostic methods. By combining Raman spectroscopy with signal amplification through nanoparticles, the method enables the identification of a highly specific “molecular fingerprint” of the salivary sample, paving the way for more accessible diagnostic tools potentially deployable directly at the point of care.
