LABION @ 43rd SCUR Meeting 2016 in Lyon

LABION was present in Lyon at the 43rd SCUR Meeting discussing recent results obtained in the field of nanoparticle toxicity assessment and Raman spectroscopy  applied to skin cancer research.

The SCUR – Skin Imaging Society was established in 1977 to bring the ultrastructure research on skin closer to applied dermatology. The society has progressively focussed on both electron microscopy and more innovative skin visualization techniques applied to cutaneous biology and pathology.

Dr. Marzia Bedoni, board member since 2012, presented the results obtained at LABION within “The MULAN program: MULtilevel Approach to the study of Nanomaterials health and safety”granted by Cariplo Foundation attesting the acute effetcs of TiO2 nanoparticles in a 3D model of human skin.

In the context of innovative skin visualization techniques, Dr. Alice Gualerzi presented promising results in the field of Raman spectroscopy applied to skin cancer diagnosis focussing on the correlation between spectral differences and histological observations.
